Rupesh Shrestha of the Environmental Sciences Division has been elevated to the grade of senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Senior members of IEEE are those who have worked in a relevant field for at least 10 years and have made significant contributions to the profession. Only 10% of IEEE members have achieved senior member status.
Shrestha’s research in the Remote Sensing & Environmental Informatics Group is focused on data services and visualization platforms for remote-sensed and in-situ datasets. He leads the MODIS/VIIRS platforms as part of the NASA Distributed Active Archive Center at ORNL, focused on gathering and disseminating terrestrial biogeochemistry and ecological dynamics observations and models to scientists worldwide.
