Geographic Data Science

Geographic Data Sciences imagery

The Geographic Data Science Group enables researchers across scientific and security programs to extract useful information from spatial and spatio-temporal data, such as satellite and sensor data, through the development and application of cutting-edge algorithms, workflows, and analytics. In this way, we provide critical insights into population dynamics, energy and land use, geopolitical patterns, and other analyses important to national security and economic prosperity.  Our team develops novel mathematical and computer science capabilities for curating, fusing, analyzing, and visualizing data sets, including but not limited to artificial intelligence, uncertainty quantification, text analytics, inference, visualization, and decision support.  Our team of researchers encompass many cross-cutting capabilities including GeoAI, spatial statistics, Bayesian reasoning, data mining, visualization, elicitation, risk analysis, and decision support.
