ZAEL 1, Inc., a Miami, Florida startup, has entered into an exclusive research and development license with commercial option for an ORNL standoff spectroscopy detection system.  The technology has the potential to be used for non-invasive standoff detection of radiological, biological and chemical agents in cargo, luggage, vehicles, and on persons.

ZAEL will begin raising capital to further develop the technology and produce a commercial product.  The technology was developed by  Computer Science and Engineering Division’s Ali Passian. David Sims negotiated the license and Colin Cini filed the patent application.
