Biostatistics and Biomedical Informatics

We develop computational methods and AI enabled tools for biomedical research, harnessing the power of high-performance computing for real-world problems. Effective design and implementation of these emergent technologies are facilitated through interdisciplinary collaborations integrating the expertise of healthcare professionals with the biological, computational, and physical sciences. Utilizing multi-scale health and environmental data, our tools enable near real-time disease diagnosis, surveillance, and treatment. We deliver accurate and timely actionable insights to detect, track, and respond to emerging health threats.

Staff also develop and incorporate AI and data-driven approaches at the intersections of molecular dynamics simulations that exploit the unique capabilities of the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility and the experimental validation capabilities at the Spallation Neutron Source, both Department of Energy Office of Science User Facilities.
