Technology Summary
Biocompatible nanoparticles have been developed that can trap and retain therapeutic radionuclides and their byproducts at the cancer site. This is important to maximize the therapeutic effect of this treatment and minimize associated side effects. These biocompatible nanoparticles can also be tagged with molecules that will allow them to specifically seek out cancer cells anywhere in the body. This technology has the potential to be combined with precision chemotherapy and immunotherapy for more accurate treatment of local and metastatic disease while minimizing side effects to patients.
