Recovery of Cobalt from End-of-Life Lithium Ion Batteries with Supported Membrane Solvent Extraction
In the recent years, LIBs have drawn a huge attention worldwide due to their widely use in portable electronics and hybrid/electric vehicles [1].

Lithium-ion batteries are widely used in electronics and expanding into many applications, such as electric and hybrid vehicles. Technologies to optimize the recycling of the spent lithium-ion batteries need to be developed urgently.

The art of producing a carbon-carbon composite is very detailed, and has been researched for nearly 50 years.

Developing new technologies for the recycling of lithium-ion batteries is an urgent task because of their wide applications in electronics and electric vehicles.

The solution is to develop alloys that can form an alumina-scale while achieving high strength through the formation of intermetallic strengthening precipitates and keeping the cost low by using the least amount of expensive elements such as Ni, Co and Hf.

Salt hydrates are very good thermal energy storage materials. However, encapsulation of salt hydrates in order to avoid the escape of water molecules attached to salt hydrates and further enhance the heat transfer rate from the salt hydrates is a formidable challenge.
