Dr. Brian Kaul is a Senior Research Staff member with over 15 years of experience at the National Transportation Research Center of the US Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His current research includes projects focused on alternative fuels for emissions reduction in marine diesel engines—including ammonia and biofuels—and thermodynamic analysis of engine efficiency; he has also contributed to the characterization and control of cyclic combustion instabilities in spark-ignition and dual-fuel engines using AI-based next-cycle controls. Brian holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology is a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and SAE International.
