Dr. Yiyu (Jason) Wang joined ORNL in 2018. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Alberta, Canada in 2018. His research focuses on advanced manufacturing (welding and joining), physical metallurgy and welding metallurgy, advanced materials characterization, and in-situ/ex-situ mechanical testing. He is an active member of many professional associations, including the American Welding Society (AWS) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), by serving on technical committees, chairing, and presenting technical papers in conferences and seminars. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed journal papers and 50 conference proceedings in topics of creep-resistant steel welding, pipeline integrity, failure analysis of welded pressure vessels, and welding of dissimilar metals. He is a recipient of the 2024 Professor Koichi Masubuchi Award, the 2017 W. H. Hobart Memorial Award, and the 2018 and 2023 Warren F. Savage Memorial Award from the AWS, for his contributions to advancing welding science and technology.
