Bio
Dr. Sean Oesch is a cybersecurity researcher in the Cyber Resilience and Intelligence Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and joint faculty at the University of Tennessee's Bredesen Center. His security research is published at top venues, including CHI, USENIX, ACSAC, and CSET, and he has several patents in process. He is currently Principal Investigator for 2.4 million in funding from both external sponsors and an internal LDRD initiative to pursue cutting edge research in autonomous cyber defense.
Utilizing a strong cross-disciplinary background in software engineering, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, Sean supervises teams composed of research staff, students, and software engineers to develop novel solutions to pressing problems in cybersecurity. He is passionate about equipping the next generation of researchers and currently serves on the Postdoctoral Program Engagement Committee at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, as well as advising several students’ doctoral work. He is also a Senior Member of the IEEE.
