Sarma B Gorti

Senior Research Staff

Dr. Sarma Gorti is a senior research staff member with the Multiscale Materials group in the Computational Sciences and Engineering Division at ORNL.  He has worked extensively in the area of simulating the microstructure evolution during thermo-mechanical processing of metals, especially in modeling texture evolution during deformation processing at the length scale of individual grains, by combining the finite element method with crystal plasticity models.  He also has significant expertise in developing and implementing these models in parallel computing environments.  In addition, he has considerable experience in carrying out thermal and mechanical analysis using commercial finite element programs (e.g., ABAQUS, FLUENT) for a variety of applications.  His research interests include various disciplines related to computational mechanics, particularly in the area of modeling and simulation of metals and alloys, both during processing and in service.
