Bio
Sara Jawdy is a plant biologist with an interest in both applied and fundamental research as it relates to bioenergy, plant transcriptomics, plant-microbe interactions, synthetic biology, carbon sequestration and beyond. Sara earned a Bachelor's degree in Horticulture with an emphasis in Plant Breeding and Genetics from The Pennsylvania State University in 2000 and a Master's degree in Plant Sciences and Biotechnology from the University of Tennessee in 2006. She joined ORNL as a technical professional in 2007 and has worked primarily with the Plant Systems Biology group since then, but also works collaboratively across groups and divisions within ORNL on a variety of projects. Her wide range of skills in molecular biology and plant physiology are used in the lab, greenhouses, and field to support the research being done at ORNL. In addition to her scientific work, Sara manages several lab spaces for the Plants Systems Biology group and oversees training of new lab space users.
