Bio
Olya Popova joined ORNL in 2021 as a postdoctoral researcher in the Functional Atomic Force Microscopy Group at the CNMS. Her research focuses on exploring micro- and nanoscale functional properties of various materials relevant to neuromorphic systems, nanoelectronics and information storage. She employs a diverse toolkit, including advance SPM techniques, SEM-CL, and XPS for materials characterization. Dr. Popova earned her PhD in Applied Physics from University of Basel (Switzerland) in 2019, where she became an expert in designing experiments in extreme conditions ( UHV, LT, high magnetic fields) with the use of synchrotron-based spectroscopy techniques (Paul Scherrer Institute, Villigen, Switzerland), further enhancing her proficiency in materials characterization and analysis. She holds both BSc and MSc degrees in Radiophysics and Electronics from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine).
