Michael J Dayton

Michael received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 1986 with an emphasis in machine design.  Following graduation, he accepted a position with the Tennessee Valley Authority at the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Decatur, Alabama in the Division of Nuclear Engineering performing field engineering and design verification activities.  In 1989, Michael joined McDonnell Douglas/Boeing in Huntsville, Alabama and spent approximately 19 years as a design engineer supporting the Spacelab and International Space Station programs along with a variety of satellite and defense programs.  Michael joined ORNL in 2008 and has served as the remote handling engineer along with various leadership roles.  Michael brings over 30 years of experience in the design, integration and testing of large-scale systems and structures.  Specific expertise includes all aspects of remote handling from tooling and process design through operational planning and direction.
