Bio
Jason is a research and development scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Jason brings a rare perspective that combines decades of experience serving as a Commander in the Navy, working as a federal employee for the federal government, developing software solutions for one of the world's largest defense contractors, promoting security as a CISSP-certified professional, and applying science to everything that he does.
Jason is generally concerned with automation (which includes AI/ML/XAI), Rust, visual programming, and software sustainability and correctness. In his current role, he applies these concepts to the geospatial domain.
Jason holds bachelor’s degrees in physics and mathematics from the University of San Diego and a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. His master’s thesis focused on small-world networks within social networks and was published in the journal Complex Systems.
