One of the most fascinating frustrated antiferromagnets, CuFeO2 contains stacked hexagonal layers, each with an ""## magnetic structure. Recent neutron-scattering studies have found that the spin-wave spectrum softens with increasing magnetic field or by substituting Fe for Al. We present a theory of the spin-wave excitations that fits the observed spin-wave branches quite well and explains this softening.
