Waqwoya is a postdoctoral research associate working at the Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). His research area involves privacy preserving federated learning, multi-modal foundation modeling.
He received his doctoral degree from Iowa State University. His doctoral research explored performance boosting in federated and fully decentralized learning, adapting the segment anything model for processing nano particle imagery, and model compression via neural architecture search.
