R&D Associate Staff, Integrated Building Deployment and Analysis Group

Dr. Sungkyun Jung is an R&D associate staff member in ORNL's Integrated Building Deployment and Analysis (IBDA) group. He received a Ph.D. in architecture from Texas A&M University in December 2020. During his graduate studies in Texas A&M's Energy Systems Laboratory (ESL), he participated in the Texas Emissions Reduction Program (TERP) project, performing NOx emissions reduction calculations from renewable energy sources and buildings. He also has been involved in developing and maintaining the building energy simulation models for residential building energy code compliance software (easy-to-use building energy simulation) called the International Code Compliance Calculator (IC3). Dr. Jung joined ORNL in 2021 as a postdoctoral research associate and has been involved in various DOE-funded projects related to analyzing building energy performance using building energy simulations and field measurements such as building energy modeling and verification, EMPOWER wall (Smart wall system), and fault detection and diagnosis (FDD).
