Subhamay Pramanik

Radiochemist: Synthetic Physical-Organic Chemist

Subhamay Pramanik is an R&D Associate Staff Scientist in the Chemical Sciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He earned his Ph.D. from Guru Nanak Dev University in India in 2017. Following his doctorate, he undertook postdoctoral research at the University of Kansas, focusing on the crystallization of supramolecular architectures that incorporate oxoanions. His current research interests include the design and synthesis of organic chelators for the efficient separation, crystallization, and recovery of rare earth elements. As a physical-organic chemist, he is passionate about delving into complex ligand-metal-anion coordination chemistry, employing techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and UV-visible spectroscopy.
