Bio
Dr. Rachel Pilla is an Aquatic Ecologist in the Environmental Sciences Division at ORNL. She received her BS in Environmental Science from the University of Notre Dame in 2013, her MS in Biology from Miami University in 2015, and her PhD in Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology with a certification in Applied Statistics from Miami University in 2021. She began at ORNL in 2021 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Biodiversity & Ecosystem Health Group. Her research at ORNL focuses on understanding the spatial and temporal variability in greenhouse gas emissions in hydropower reservoirs, designing advanced sensor and drone technology for high resolution data collection within and across systems, and understand metabolism and carbon cycling in stream ecosystems.
