Bio
Mithulan Paramanathan is a hybrid manufacturing engineer with the Disruptive Manufacturing Systems Development group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Before working at ORNL, Mithulan researched Nano-system design and CFD simulation at Kansas State University with an emphasis on graphene use in electronics and carbon nanotubes. Mithulan received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University in 2021. He began working for ORNL in 2022 as a staff researcher.
Professional Experience
At ORNL's Manufacturing Demonstration Facility his research on hybrid manufacturing utilizes additive and subtractive processes to provide solutions for defense, naval, aerospace, automotive, and advanced energy systems. Additionally, he's worked on computational flow dynamics simulations for liquid heat transfer systems to improve manufacturing efficiency. With a primary focus on machine tool hybrid DED, Mithulan utilizes Robotic Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing systems (WAAM) with an emphasis on toolpathing and process generation. His primary career expertise is multi-axial Hybrid Manufacturing design and flow analysis driven design modification.
