International Safeguards Research and Development Engineer

Jim Garner joined the International Safeguards Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 2010. Before joining Oak Ridge, Jim worked at the International Atomic Energy Agency developing software for the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant.  His work focuses on developing new tools to assist in collecting and analyzing data at bulk handling facilities. Recently his work has concentrated on process monitoring technologies such as load cell monitoring and online enrichment monitoring to improve safeguards at gas centrifuge enrichment plants.

Jim received a Bachelor’s in Physics from Kenyon College, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA, and a Master’s in Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis. He is also a Certified Information System Security Professional.
