Haley H Wightman
Technical Associate Staff Member - Radiochemistry
Bio
Haley Wightman joined ORNL in 2017 and is currently a Radiochemist within the Radioactive Materials Analytical Laboratory (RMAL). As a radiochemist within RMAL, she has expertise in radionuclide separations, sample preparation methods, as well as radioanalytical instrumentation such as alpha spectroscopy, gamma spectroscopy, liquid scintillation counting, and gas-flow proportional counting. Haley supports and collaborates with multiple projects within and outside of ORNL that include but are not limited to nuclear medical isotope production, nuclear fuels, waste remediation, and environmental stewardship.
Haley attended and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Prior to joining ORNL she worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory working on biomass analysis and characterization. Haley was also involved in working for an environmental laboratory while earning her degree that focused on EPA water quality analyses such as, BOD, CBOD, TSS, and TDS, to name a few.
