Bio
Gavin Jager is a research assistant for the Human Analysis and Biometrics (HAB) Group within the Cyber Resilience and Intelligence Division. As the Laboratory Space Manager of the HAB Lab in building 5500 room 126, Gavin planned and oversaw a complete renovation and outfitting of several spaces used for identity sciences research. He is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the HAB Lab, ensuring safe conduct of research in the space, and maintaining organization and availability of lab resources.
As a researcher, Gavin has played crucial roles on the BRIAR project: (1) supporting the field team during large-scale, month-long data collection events, (2) developing and maintaining hardware and software used for the data collections, and (3) automating the curation of hundreds of thousands of images for the BRIAR dataset. His current projects and research interests deal with embedded computer vision systems and computational imaging, structure from motion, time-series analysis, and ML/AI, especially as it relates to biometrics.
Before starting at ORNL in 2021, Gavin completed two summer undergraduate internships at ORNL programming lighting and imaging simulations for a through-the-windshield face recognition system and investigating 3D modeling for dataset augmentation.
