Bio
Dawn has worked in both the Environmental and Biological Sciences Divisions at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She began working onsite after earning her Master’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Georgia in 2001. Dawn began her ORNL career working with organisms related to environmental bioremediation. She helped produce and print microarrays and created a phage display library where she cloned most the 4,566 genes in Shewanella oneidensis.
In 2008, the science began to transition away from microarray technology toward next generation sequencing. Since that time Dawn has managed and run the multiple sequencer’s that have been onsite. She is currently the main point of contact for the Illumina MiSeq, as well as a laboratory space manager for multiple spaces. Dawn is a proud graduate of LOSA (Laboratory Operations Supervisor Academy).
