Bio
Colin is an instrument scientist in the direct geometry spectroscopy group working on the Sequoia and HYSPEC beamlines. Prior to joining as staff in 2024, Colin was a postdoctoral researcher at ORNL where he used neutrons as a probe to search for exotic materials which may host applications in topological quantum computing. Colin completed his Ph.D from Colorado State University in 2021 working with Prof. Kate Ross.
Colin's research interests includes strongly correlated systems, quantum magnets, the effects of disorder on quantum materials, and nonequilibrium dynamics. He is also committed to growing and mentoring the neutron user community in the usage of neutrons as a key experimental probe.
