
Bio
Bhaskar is a Research and Development (R&D) Software engineer in the Geospatial Science and Human Security Division (GSHSD) at ORNL with a strong academic background and practical expertise in application/software development. Holding a Master's degree in Computer Science from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Manipal University in Jaipur, India, Bhaskar combines solid theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience to contribute effectively to innovative projects. Prior to joining ORNL in 2022, he was working as a Faculty Research Engineer for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) where he supported Research Scientists studying how climate factors affect the spread of vector-borne diseases such as Chikungunya, Dengue and Zika. He is the lead developer on CHIKRisk platform, a global early warning and forecasting framework to provide an overview of the Chikungunya activity by providing climate based current and forecast risk maps.
