Awais Khan is working as an HPC Systems Scientist in the Technology Integration Group, in the National Center for Computational Sciences division. Awais's research at ORNL will primarily focus on HPC systems memory and storage architectures.
Awais earned his B.S. Bioinformatics degree from Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2011. After graduation, Awais worked as a Senior Software Engineer for four and half years at Digital Research Labs, in Islamabad, Pakistan. Awais then obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Sogang University, Seoul, South Korea, in February 2021. Immediately following the completion of his doctoral studies, Awais contributed to the academic community as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Sogang University from March 2021 to October 2021. Continuing his research journey, Awais took on a role as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in TN, USA, from November 2021 to October 2022. He also served as a Senior Systems Performance Engineer at Micron Technology in Austin, TX, from October 2022 to August 2023. Throughout his career, Awais has consistently demonstrated expertise, in data management, HPC, file system indexing services, I/O middleware libraries, data deduplication, and distributed and parallel storage system areas.
