Technology Integration
The Technology Integration (TechInt) group of the Advanced Technologies Section is entrusted with the critical task of delivering cutting-edge technologies into various projects and programs under the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS). This group plays an essential role in enhancing the capabilities of the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF) by identifying gaps on our technology roadmap and then developing, hardening, and deploying innovative solutions to address these gaps. By focusing on the integration of new technologies, TechInt ensures that NCCS remains at the forefront of computational science and technology advancements.
Our scope of work encompasses several key areas, including file and storage systems, system architecture, and the development of scientific edge computing and AI ecosystems. To achieve our objectives, we engage in designing and procuring high-performance computing systems such as Titan, Summit, Frontier, Spider, High-Performance Storage System (HPSS), and various data analysis clusters. These systems are crucial not only for current projects but also for anticipating future needs in computational science, allowing NCCS to maintain a competitive edge in this fast-evolving field.
Additionally, the TechInt group is deeply involved in researching and evaluating emerging technologies to assess their potential impact on our operations. This ongoing research is essential for staying ahead of the technology curve and ensuring that NCCS can promptly adopt innovations that enhance our capabilities. Our team's expertise extends to providing systems programming that facilitates the seamless integration of new technologies and tools into our existing infrastructure as they become available. This approach ensures that scientists have access to the most advanced computational resources, empowering them to conduct groundbreaking research and make significant contributions to the scientific community. Through our diligent efforts, the TechInt group continues to propel NCCS toward greater scientific and technological achievements.
