Bio
Ajay Jayswal, originally from Nepal, is working as a postdoctoral research associate in the Carbon & Composites Group in the Chemical Sciences Division (CSD) of the Physical Sciences Directorate (PSD) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University in August 2023, and BE in Mechanical Engineering from Pulchowk Campus, Tribhuvan University, Nepal in December 2017.
His current research objective is to design, characterize, and additively manufacture high-performance composites with enhanced multifunctional properties to improve performance, safety, and functionality of the structures. To achieve this, he has been working on modeling textile-inspired metamaterials, gyroid structures, and their performance analysis under various loading conditions including quasi-static compression, cyclic and creep load. In addition, he has also been actively working on materials characterization and additive manufacturing of polymer heat exchangers. The experimental results are supplemented with the finite element analysis (FEA) models to precisely predict the performance, safety, and life of the designed materials.
