The magnetic characteristics of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO) and La0.7Sr0.3FeO3 (LSFO) superlattices with 6 unit cell thick sublayers were determined using soft x-ray magnetic dichroism. The Mn moments in the LSMO layers can be aligned in any inplane direction by external magnetic fields of 0.3 T for temperatures down to 50 K. Independent of the LSMO magnetization direction, the Fe moments in the LSFO layer are always oriented perpendicular to the Mn moments due to the frustrated exchange coupling at the LSMO/LSFO interface. The transition temperature of the LSFO layer exceeds 400 K while the LSMO layers exhibit a Curie temperature of approximately 200 K.
