Nuclear Data and Criticality Safety

The Nuclear Data and Criticality Safety Group is part of the Reactor and Nuclear Systems Division within the Nuclear Science and Engineering Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where it is responsible for providing nuclear data support for current and emerging nuclear applications. NDCS staff possess a broad range of physics and nuclear engineering expertise that is used to provide nuclear data support to a variety of sponsors including ORNL divisions and programs, Department of Energy (DOE) Offices and laboratories, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and the nuclear industry.

Mission:

Provide integrated nuclear data, modeling & simulation, and nuclear criticality safety analysis capabilities to enable innovative technical solutions for nuclear technology applications.

Strategy:

Leverage expertise in nuclear criticality safety, nuclear data, and analytical methods/software development to conduct R&D involving analyses and nuclear methods development to provide problem-solving tools, technical solutions, and guidance to customers within DOE, NRC, and other government and private organizations.
