FluidFM

FAFM FluidFM 00

Fluidic Force Microscopy (FluidFM) is an innovative technology that combines the precision and versatility of AFM with the capabilities of microfluidics. This hybrid technique involves a specialized AFM probe equipped with a microfluidic or nanofluidic channel, allowing for the controlled delivery or withdrawal of fluids at the nanoscale while simultaneously measuring forces with the sensitivity characteristic of AFM.

Features:

Available modes:

  • Colloidal Studies: FluidFM manipulates individual particles in colloidal research, aiding the study of particle interactions and assembly, advancing material development and understanding of physical principles.
  • Nanolithography and Material Science: In nanolithography, FluidFM patterns surfaces with biomolecules, polymers, or nanoparticles, enabling the creation of functionalized surfaces for various nanoscale applications.
  • Electrochemistry: FluidFM's precise control over the tip-sample interface is utilized in electrochemistry for studying corrosion, electrodeposition, and surface reactions at the nanoscale.
  • Local Chemical Modification: FluidFM's nanoscale aperture facilitates local chemical or electrochemical modifications, such as gating or ion doping/dedoping.
  • Single-Cell Biology and Biophysics: FluidFM is key in single-cell biology for cell manipulation, fluid injection/extraction, and cell adhesion studies, offering detailed insights into cell mechanics and responses.
  • Microbiology: FluidFM enables the manipulation and detailed analysis of individual microorganisms, supporting studies on microbial adhesion, biofilm dynamics, and mechanical properties.
