ORNL conducts analysis on integrated solutions for building energy efficiency and provides unique research to support the Building Technologies Office’s programs. Research spans both residential and commercial/institutional building markets.
Analysis support is provided for DOE’s Federal Energy Management Program, the Energy Savings Performance Contracts, the Utility Energy Savings Performance Contracts and the Weatherization and Intergovernmental Programs Office, or WIPO. For WIPO, researchers perform field research projects, evaluate weatherization implementation results, develop residential weatherization energy auditing tools and develop training for state organizations on the effective use of audit tools.
Researchers utilize two light commercial buildings and a residential home to conduct analysis and work with building envelope and equipment experts and data scientists as well as industry, universities, utilities and government agencies.
