Invention Reference Number

The disclosed approach for continuous variable quantum key distribution (CVQKD) simplifies the process of transmitting quantum signals through optical fiber. Traditionally, maintaining the correct signal polarization during transmission has been essential, often requiring complicated stabilization and correction methods. Our encoding technique for the Gaussian Modulated Coherent State (GMCS) CVQKD protocol eliminates the need for active polarization control or monitoring both polarization modes. By allowing the transmitter to encode distinct information in each of four quadratures, two in each polarization mode, the method ensures that the receiver can measure a valid GMCS signal that is recoverable using digital signal processing even when polarization shifts occur. This approach streamlines the transmission process by reducing the necessary optical components, minimizes signal loss, and avoids noise typically introduced by polarization correction systems.
Description
This new method improves quantum communication by introducing a polarization agnostic technique for GMCS CVQKD. By resolving challenges related to polarization stabilization, this solution enhances the reliability of quantum signal transmission while making the system more efficient. The outcome is a robust and simplified protocol that opens up new avenues for secure communication in the quantum realm, paving the way for advancements that could transform information security practices.
