Residual Stress and Distortion Reduction through Monolithic Compliant Additive Base Plates

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

202405627

  • Manufacturing

In additive manufacturing large stresses are induced in the build plate and part interface. A result of these stresses are deformations in the build plate and final component. One approach to this problem is to introduce compliance to the build plate during the additive process. Designing a base plate that accommodates thermal growth may significantly decrease the residual stresses and part deformations.
