Measuring the Zeta Potential of Surfaces Using Pressure Measurements

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

201804186

  • Analytical-Instrumentation

This invention provides a microfluidic technique for measuring the zeta potential of surfaces by performing pressure measurements in flow. Thus, this invention eliminates the need for sensitive and sophisticated electronic components that are currently used in existing zeta potentiometry systems, and substitutes instead the need for the relatively simpler and more cost effective measurement of fluid pressures. Thus, we demonstrate a method for measuring the zeta potentials of surfaces that relies on performing fluid pressure measurements in a microfluidic system.
