Removal of Oxoanions from Aqueous Solutions by Lipophilic Receptors

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

201704063

  • Chemicals

These family of compounds can be tailored to treat industrial and agricultural aqueous solutions by removing high concentrations of oxoanions such as sulfate, chromate, nitrate, phosphate, etc. which are present in the wastewater discharge from plants and factories or agricultural field run off. Additionally, these compounds can be used to recover critical materials like rhenium, tellurium, etc. which are present in solution as their oxoanion form. These compounds can be used to regenerate scrubbing solutions used to remove SOX and NOX from gaseous combustion processes. These compounds are highly soluble in hydrocarbon based solvents such as kerosene or dodecane preferred in industrial solvent extraction processes. This allows for a higher throughput of solutions that must be treated in a fast, efficient, and economical manner. Utilizing these compounds in a solvent extraction process allows for the repeated use of the compounds by continuously recycling of the solvent for repeated use.
