Laser-Interference Surface Preparation for Enhanced Coating Adhesion

The invention proposes a one-step surface preparation technique for painting and application of coating systems. The proposed one-step process at ambient conditions has the potential to (a) replace more expensive traditional surface treatments, such as chemical conversion coating or anodization and (b) drastically reduce the environmental impact, risks, and costs in the manufacture and maintenance of aircraft, ground vehicles, ships, and any other product that needs corrosion protection.
