Sharmin Majumder

Dr. Sharmin Majumder is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Computational Science and Engineering Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Sharmin earned her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX in 2025. Prior to that, she obtained her masters and Bachelor degrees from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology, Chittagong, Bangladesh in 2013 and 2019, respectively. During her Ph.D. research, she focused on computational imaging, ultrasound elastography, biomechanics, cancer research, computer vision, and machine learning. She developed computational methods to determine spatial distribution of mechanical parameters (such as Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio) as well as fluid parameters (vascular permeability, interstitial permeability, etc.) in cancers in vivo with ultrasound elastography imaging modality. Her current research lies at the intersection of AI foundational models, high performance computing, computer vision, and imaging physics with computed tomography, and hyperspectral imaging modalities.
