Lois Goodman is an Assistant Technical Staff member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), supporting electrical engineering, power electronics, automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing research and development across the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF), Grid Systems Hardware, and Grid-C. She joined ORNL in 2023 as a Temporary Technician under the guidance of Amy Elliott in the System Automation & Monitoring Research group at MDF and has since progressed into supporting increasingly complex electrical, mechanical, and technical projects. Her work includes electrical and mechanical design, SolidWorks CAD, electrical enclosure and panel design, fabrication and installation, power-electronics hardware, electrical inspections, automation, robotics, machine vision, and prototype development. She has contributed to projects involving TRISO fuel fabrication, EV battery and motor disassembly, robotic automation, additive manufacturing, power electronics, high-voltage systems, and grid technologies. Lois has supported the design, development, assembly, testing, and implementation of research hardware, working closely with engineers, researchers, and technical staff to translate concepts into functional prototypes and systems. She is an EEI Certified Inspector and has contributed to projects resulting in technical publications, demonstrations, and award-recognized research. Lois received her Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology–Electronics in 2022 and her Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology & Networking in 2020 from DeVry University, where she maintained a 4.0 GPA. She has a strong interest in electronics, engineering, and technology and enjoys hands-on projects involving microcontrollers, sensors, and electronic systems. She continues to expand her technical expertise through engineering design, fabrication, research support, and professional development.
