Libby Brown has over 30 years of M&O corporate financial management and accounting experience. As director and controller of ORNL’s Accounting Operations Division, Libby Brown is responsible for the lab’s general ledger, cost, tax and corporate accounting and reporting functions; accounts payable and receivable; payroll and timekeeping, and payment administration and processing; subcontract invoice review; and travel and conference services. She leads the lab’s Treasury Services and Corporate Reporting, General Ledger and Reporting, Payroll and Payment Services, and Conference and Travel groups.
Libby Brown was named director of the Accounting Operations Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 2018. She joined the lab’s accounting staff in 2006 with 15 years of experience in accounting and financial management with two Department of Energy Management & Operations contractors: Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, where she started her career, and Bechtel Jacobs Company., where she rose from general ledger accountant to general ledger supervisor.
Libby Brown began her ORNL tenure as an A-123 coordinator, tasked with overseeing the implementation and maintenance of entity and internal financial controls. She later served as supervisor of cost and general department,team lead on a cradle-to-grave review analysis of the lab’s accounts payable process, as a corporate accountant, and as group leader of Payroll and Payment Services before assuming the role of director of the Accounting Operations Division.
Libby Brown holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee at Martin and earned her B.S. in Accounting from Tennessee Wesleyan University. She is a Certified Accounts Payable Manager and is Six Sigma Yellow Belt certified.
