Kaity T. Mourfield

Kaity is the Lead Mission Support Coordinator for the Transportation and Waste Management Division (TWMD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). She is passionate about advancing progress in STEM fields while prioritizing safety and sustainability, aligning with the mission of TWMD.

Since joining ORNL in 2018, Kaity has held several roles within TWMD, including Waste Services Representative (WSR) for the Radioactive Engineering Development Center (REDC) and the Radioactive Materials Analytical Laboratory (RMAL), Analytical Services Program Lead, Waste Operations Analyst, and now Lead Mission Support Coordinator. Through these positions, she has developed a comprehensive understanding of the waste management lifecycle, from waste generation and characterization to final disposition, as well as the financial and operational processes that support the mission.

In addition to her technical expertise, Kaity is deeply committed to mentoring and inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals. During her time as a Chemistry teacher, she fostered a learning environment focused on nurturing curiosity, building confidence, and developing skills in young minds. Kaity brings this same philosophy to her work at ORNL, believing in the value of supporting and empowering colleagues to thrive both professionally and personally.
