These include working with new and emerging technologies to understand and manage novel risks, tooling selection and implementation, working with partners to evaluate and control risks in their workflows, and developing mitigations and responses to active threats.

Greg is an active member of the HPC and Cybersecurity communities.  He has served on the SC Conference planning committee in various roles since 2014, including leading the conference’s online experience in 2026 and leading SCinet in 2028.  He has served as a member of the security working groups for Teragrid and XSEDE previously, and ACCESS currently.  He is a member of the technical team that manages and publishes the semi-annual Top500 list.  He also volunteers in a variety of IT roles for several non-profits in his community.

Prior to joining ORNL, Greg worked at Purdue University for almost 20 years in a variety of IT roles, with a primary focus on data storage and security (both HPC and enterprise).

Greg’s personal interests include self-service and collaboration tools, automation and infrastructure-as-code, data security, DevSecOps, IT infrastructure, physical security systems, and large-scale distributed identity and access management systems.

Greg graduated from Purdue University with a major in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Management.
