Chandra Sekhar Somayajula

I am a chemical engineer in the Manufacturing Science Division at ORNL. I have extensive research experience in process modeling and simulation, state estimation, and technoeconomic analysis (TEA) for energy and manufacturing systems. Key application areas over the years include corrosion monitoring in power plants; economic analysis of energy storage in redox flow batteries; production of liquid fuel blendstocks from seed oils; recycling and reuse of wood products; and conversion of carbon dioxide to value-added products, among others. I am experienced in collaborating with experimental research groups and industrial partners to develop and validate dynamic process models. I am passionate about using computational tools to design and analyze processes, with a particular interest in developing new or improved mathematical models that better represent real systems.
