Eduardo Antonio Coello Pérez is a Computational Scientist in the Advanced Computing for Chemistry and Materials group. Toño's research is currently focused on error mitigation for noisy intermediate-scale quantum devices through quantum optimal control. As a member of the NCCS he aims to develop software and computational capabilities to perform scalable pulse-level simulations of the execution of diverse quantum algorithms on noisy hardware.
Prior to joining ORNL, Toño was a Postdoctoral Research Staff Member at LLNL, where he used quantum optimal control to simulate the time evolution of small quantum systems on LLNL’s Quantum Design and Integration Testbed, and to perform pulse-level simulations of the adiabatic state preparation of a small quantum computer consisting of two coupled superconducting transmons.
