Steve Cline

Steve Cline is the Chief Operating Officer for the Biological and Environmental Systems Science Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The Biological and Environmental System Science Directorate conducts convergence research in biology, ecology, engineering, data discovery, physical sciences, and computing to advance U.S. competitiveness in the global bioeconomy and Earth system sustainability. 

Steve brings extensive experience to the COO role which includes over 25 years of operational support experience at ORNL. Steve joined the Laboratory in 1993 as a research associate before transitioning to a research support role. He has served in various compliance and continuous improvement leadership roles within the directorate will performing numerous roles and responsibilities related to Environmental, Safety, Health, and Quality as well as facility operation management. Steve holds a bachelor's and master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from West Virginia University of Morgantown, West Virginia.
