Stephen S Nichols
Computational Scientist in Computational Fluid Dynamics
Bio
Stephen Nichols joined ORNL as a Computational Scientist in Computational Fluid Dynamics in November of 2019. Stephen earned his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Mississippi State University in 2002 and subsequently held faculty positions with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga SimCenter and later with Auburn University’s Aerospace Engineering Department where he both taught graduate courses in computational fluid dynamics, scientific computing and parallel programming and pursued research interests broadly in the development of efficient parallel flow solvers to address a wide range of engineering applications. Stephen is a member of the AIAA Meshing, Visualization, and Computational Environments Technical Committee, and in his present role at ORNL, he supports INCITE, ECP, and CAAR projects optimize their use of current and emerging GPU-accelerated systems at the OLCF.
