Bio
Stan Cooper is currently assisting with R&D Work Control at the Spallation Neutron Source in the Neutron Sciences Directorate. He started at ORNL in 1987 with research activities involving radiochemistry on bench-scale, gloveboxes and eventually hot-cells. He moved over to research support in 2006 and has worked many years in the Chemical Sciences Division of the Physical Sciences Directorate.
Professional Experience
- Division point-of-contact for research support activities, including operations, training, and work control
- Lead all aspects of facility operations management and ESH&Q for division occupied facilities
- Collaborate with multiple directorates, research staff, and facility engineers in accomplishing safe goals
- Developed project strategies and plans, managed resource allocation for multiple research programs
- Verify compliance with Facility Hazard Categorization and other regulatory requirements for radiological, non-radiological and hazardous materials and waste, including Quality Significant Reviews
- Maintain quality assurance (QA) and training requirements for research staff for specific programs and divisional oversight environments.
