Bio
Shane Henderson is currently a Technical Staff member of the Nuclear Code Integration Team at Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL), where he has been since 2017. He earned a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University and a M.S in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
At ORNL, Shane has focused on Multiphysics modeling and simulation, first as part of the Consortium for Advanced Simulation of Light Water Reactors (CASL) and more recently as part of the Nuclear Energy Advanced Modeling and Simulation Hub (NEAMS) and related reactor analysis projects. He also serves as the repository maintainer for the Molten Salt Thermal Properties Database-Thermochemical (MSTDB-TC) and Molten Salt Thermal Properties Database-Thermophysical (MSTDB-TP). He is also code lead for Saline, an API for MSTDB-TP. In this role he collaborates with materials scientists using AI and other advanced workflows to expand the depth of property data supplied to MSTDB-TP, as well as, with data consumers, such as the various MOOSE based reactor analysis codes, to enable research on next generation molten salt reactors.
Prior to college Shane was a Nuclear Machinist's Mate in the Navy and Shift Supervisor for a pharmaceutical manufacturer while in college.
