Nicholas P Luciano

Reactor Physics Nuclear Engineer

Dr. Nicholas Luciano is R&D staff in the Advanced Engineering Technologies group in the Nuclear Nonproliferation Division.  His primary role is to investigate the nonproliferation issues associated with nuclear reactors using modeling & simulation tools.  Nick has worked previously at Brookhaven National Laboratory and at the ORNL Spallation Neutron Source.  For two years he served as a technical advisor in Washington, DC to the National Nuclear Security Administration, Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation Research and Development, Office of Proliferation Detection. Nick is a licensed professional engineer with a B.S. in physics from Georgia Tech, and M.S. and Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from the University of Tennessee. His previous work includes neutron spectra measurements at SNS, plutonium disposition with MOX fuel in fast reactors, small modular LWR fuel design, and VVER reactor analysis.  His recent work has focused on computer simulation of advanced reactors for proliferation resistance.
